An interstate compact to eliminate corporate welfare

Imagine if we could get out of the prisoners dilemma of each state government feeling like they are forced to shovel money at the world's biggest companies who play one off the other when they threaten to move out or tease they might want to move in if only the price is right.

Some far-sighted legislators are pushing for a truce in this economic war via an interstate compact where states agree to end the practice of sending money to a specific company *if* other states agree to do the same thing. That way no one states feels they are putting themselves at a disadvantage and eventually over time, we can all agree that we should spend taxpayer money on policies that benefit everyone, not just a favored few companies.

This 2019 version of the legislation is filed in the Arizona Senate , Illinois Senate, West Virginia Senate, New York Senate and the New York Assembly.

In 2020, more state legislators are likely to file an updated version of the legislation. If you're interested, please get in touch. (I'm volunteering to help coordinate the effort).
